Police Rescue Victim from Alleged Safe House in Cancún

Police operation at alleged safe house in Cancún's Tres Reyes neighborhood

Cancún, Mexico — A person who was being held against their will inside an alleged safe house was rescued tonight following an intense police mobilization in the Tres Reyes neighborhood.

The operation was activated after an anonymous call to 911 reported the presence of armed individuals near a residence located in the first section of the neighborhood, close to the main access point.

Around 8 p.m., state police activated the emergency protocol upon detecting a group of armed subjects who reportedly fired shots at an official unit.

The aggression was repelled, while the alleged perpetrators managed to flee toward a vegetated area.

Consequently, police elements deployed an operation with the participation of Municipal Police, the Mexican Army, the National Guard, and the Navy Secretariat.

During the intervention, authorities entered the indicated property after hearing cries for help coming from inside. At the location, they found a person with their hands tied and face covered, who claimed to have been held against their will for several hours after being intercepted in the same neighborhood.

According to initial reports, the victim showed signs of physical violence and was allegedly at risk of losing their life.

Subsequently, they were transported to a hospital, where it was confirmed that their health condition was stable and out of danger.

Personnel from the Ministerial Investigation Police and experts from the State Attorney General’s Office processed the scene, securing various pieces of evidence.

So far, authorities have not released additional official information about those responsible.
