QUINTANA ROO, Mexico — The national program "Viernes Muy Mexicano" (Very Mexican Friday) will launch next September 26 in Quintana Roo as part of a strategy aimed at boosting local consumption, strengthening small businesses, and promoting Mexican cultural identity. This initiative will take place on the last Friday of every month throughout the state.

Support for Family Businesses and Mexican Identity

In a statement, Governor Mara Lezama emphasized that this effort represents a shift in consciousness about the importance of supporting local commerce, from neighborhood bakeries and fondas to traditional shops. Furthermore, the program seeks to ensure that economic benefits remain within the communities and to reinforce national identity.

Goal of 36,000 Participating Establishments in Q. Roo

The National Confederation of Chambers of Commerce (CONCANACO) estimates that at least 10,000 businesses will register for the first event, with the goal of reaching more than 36,000 in Quintana Roo. The program encompasses sectors such as commerce, services, and tourism, and offers participating businesses an official distinctive emblem and a QR code to easily locate them on a digital map.

An Engine for Economic and Cultural Development

State and municipal authorities, along with business representatives, agreed that "Very Mexican Friday" will be key to strengthening MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), promoting regional fairs, and consolidating internal consumption as an engine for economic development. Finally, with this action, Quintana Roo positions itself as a benchmark in the promotion of local commerce and the preservation of Mexican culture.
