Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — A serious accident on Highway 184 caused over 60,000 pesos in vehicle damage after a sedan veered off the roadway near this town in southern Quintana Roo.

The crash occurred at kilometer 179+500 on Federal Highway 184, which runs between Muna and Felipe Carrillo Puerto, in the San Luis-Betania section. Authorities received an emergency call reporting the accident and requesting National Guard highway division personnel.

Emergency responders from the National Emergency Commission also arrived to assist with traffic control while a tow truck crew worked to recover the vehicle from the dark, unlit area.

The vehicle involved was a blue Kia Rio sedan with Quintana Roo license plate UTZ-875-K. It was traveling east to west, apparently headed toward the city of José María Morelos, when the driver lost control upon entering a recently paved section of road.

The sedan left the roadway on the right side, traveling several meters into vegetation. The vehicle sustained severe damage, but the occupants only suffered bruises to various parts of their bodies and did not require pre-hospital medical attention.
