U.S. Tourist Held in Cancún for Taking Unauthorized Photos

Cancún, Mexico — A U.S. citizen was detained by municipal police officers in Cancún after allegedly violating the privacy of a young female student by photographing her without consent. The incident occurred near the Instituto Tecnológico de Cancún in Supermanzana 51, where officers were conducting routine patrols.

Incident Details

Authorities were alerted by staff at the educational institution about a suspicious individual. The victim directly identified Michel “N,” a 55-year-old man from Pennsylvania, as the person who had taken unauthorized photographs of her.

Following the accusation, officers proceeded with the arrest. The suspect was handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where he will face charges for the alleged crime of violating personal privacy. Investigations remain ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
