Cancún, Quintana Roo — A coordinated deployment of federal and state forces shook the Crucero area in Superblock 66 of Cancún on Friday night after ministerial agents from the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office, alongside the National Guard, Navy, and Mexican Army, executed simultaneous raids in multiple zones identified as hotspots for organized crime.
The operations took place in Superblocks 66, 71, 107, and 110, strategic locations where authorities have identified the presence of criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, extortion, and—in an even more alarming development—sexual exploitation and the corruption of minors.
Key Findings in Superblock 66
According to unofficial sources close to the investigation, a residence near the intersection of Francisco I. Madero and José López Portillo Avenues in Superblock 66 was secured. The property allegedly served as a base for a criminal cell dedicated to the trafficking of women. Authorities are also investigating the possible involvement of minors in high-risk situations, which could escalate the case to federal jurisdiction for crimes related to human trafficking and child abuse.
“It is presumed to have been a recruitment, retention, and exploitation site. We found concerning evidence,” revealed a confidential source linked to the operation.
Tactical Raids in Superblock 71
In Superblock 71, witnesses reported the presence of heavily armed tactical units. Several individuals were apprehended and transported with their faces covered to the Attorney General’s Office facilities on Guayacán Avenue, where they will be processed by prosecutors.
Additional Operations in Superblocks 107 and 110
Authorities also intervened in Superblocks 107 and 110. While no official confirmation has been provided regarding the seizure of weapons, narcotics, or communication devices, sources indicate that arrests were made of individuals allegedly tied to drug trafficking and other illicit operations.
The secrecy surrounding the details underscores the gravity of the findings and the complexity of the criminal networks operating in the municipality. As of now, the Attorney General’s Office has not released an official statement, but a press conference is expected in the coming hours.
A Major Blow Against Organized Crime
This operation marks one of the most significant recent strikes against organized crime in the northern region of Quintana Roo. Against a backdrop of escalating violence in Cancún in recent years, these actions demonstrate a more aggressive response while also revealing the deep infiltration of criminal activity into residential areas.
