Cancun — An Uber driver was murdered early Wednesday morning in the La Joya subdivision, located in Supermanzana 254 of Cancun, near the Periférico, according to authorities.

The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m., when the driver was the victim of a knife attack. He suffered a neck injury that caused his death.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene confirmed that the driver no longer had vital signs. Members of the Municipal Police cordoned off the area to preserve the crime scene.

Ministerial agents and criminal experts arrived moments later and took charge of collecting evidence and transferring the body to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for the legal autopsy.

So far, the victim remains unidentified. Ministerial authorities are continuing their investigations to clarify the facts, confirm whether it was a robbery, as presumed, and find those responsible for the attack.
