Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Two drivers walked away with minor injuries after their vehicles overturned in separate accidents on Federal Highway 307 in the stretch between Puerto Aventuras and Akumal, authorities reported.
According to preliminary information, both rollovers happened at roughly the same time and were blamed on excessive speed combined with wet pavement.
First Rollover Near Cenote Azul
The first crash occurred near Cenote Azul, close to the Barceló hotel, when the driver of a red Dodge Journey hit a stretch of road covered in puddles, lost control of the steering and flipped the vehicle, which came to rest on its roof.
Despite the violent nature of the crash, no one was seriously hurt. Paramedics who responded to the scene treated the occupants of the SUV and assessed their condition.
Frozen-Goods Truck Overturns Near Dorado Seaside
The second accident took place near the Dorado Seaside hotel, also on the federal highway, where a truck carrying frozen goods lost control on a slight curve, left the roadway and tipped over onto one side.
No injuries were reported in that crash either. Paramedics treated the driver at the scene, and officials said he suffered only minor bruises and scrapes.
