Puerto Aventuras Mayor Juan Arena Launches Sweeping Urban Improvement Drive

City workers in Puerto Aventuras clear drains and repair streets during an urban improvement campaign

Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Puerto Aventuras mayor Juan Arena launched a wide-ranging urban improvement campaign on his first day in office, deploying crews to handle street cleaning, tree pruning, pothole repair, drain clearing and public lighting.

Arena, accompanied by Public Services Secretary Eyder Peraza Sabido, said the effort is coordinated with the municipal government led by Playa del Carmen mayor Estefanía Mercado.

“Let’s get to work for Puerto Aventuras!” Arena said, stressing cooperation with Mercado’s administration through the Public Services Department to strengthen cleaning and maintenance work.

The operation sent crews into streets and avenues across the town as well as the Puerto Maya subdivision, where residents welcomed the response to demands for better public services.

Arena personally supervised work to clear absorption wells and patch potholes, aimed at improving traffic flow and helping prevent flooding during the rainy season.

During his tour, he also checked pruning and branch removal, particularly limbs that interfere with power lines or could endanger pedestrians and drivers in bad weather.

Arena said public services need constant, coordinated attention to improve the town’s appearance, preserve shared spaces and respond directly to families’ needs.

“Teamwork is essential to meet the needs of our community and achieve results that translate into the well-being of Puerto Aventuras families,” he said.

On lighting, he said crews are inspecting and maintaining street lamps to improve illumination on streets and in common areas, part of efforts to strengthen safety and mobility.

He also urged residents to support the local government’s work by avoiding the buildup of trash and bulky waste in public areas and helping care for green spaces.

Peraza Sabido underscored the importance of close coordination with the local government to address residents’ demands and continue improving streets, avenues and public spaces.

The campaign is part of initiatives by the Playa del Carmen municipal government, headed by Mercado, to strengthen public services.
