Akumal, Mexico — Police arrested two suspected drug distributors during a security operation in the coastal town of Akumal, part of the Tulum municipality in Quintana Roo, after catching them exchanging small bags of apparent narcotics.

Officers from the Citizen Security Department spotted the two men swapping bags on an Akumal street while conducting preventive patrols. The suspects attempted to flee but police quickly intercepted them.

Authorities identified the detained men as Francisco “N” and Marco Antonio “N” and turned them over to the appropriate officials for their alleged involvement in health-related crimes, referring to drug offenses.

The operation involved the Centurion Group coordinating with personnel from the Mexican Navy and Mexican Army as part of ongoing surveillance and crime prevention efforts in the area.

During a search conducted according to established protocols, police seized items allegedly linked to drug sales and distribution. The confiscated evidence included 95 bags containing dry green herb resembling marijuana and 50 bags with transparent solid fragments believed to be crystal meth. Officers also secured a cell phone and two fanny packs.

Authorities handed over the seized items to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will compile the corresponding investigation file and determine the legal status of the detainees according to law.
