Two Suspected Drug Dealers Arrested with Drugs and Weapons in Tulum

Two men identified as Francisco Román and Daniel Ángel, arrested in Tulum for alleged drug dealing

Tulum, Mexico — Police arrested two suspected drug dealers and seized narcotics and a firearm during coordinated operations in this popular tourist destination.

Authorities caught the men red-handed in separate incidents on Tuesday following joint efforts by the State Prosecutor’s Office, the Mexican Army, and municipal police.

The first arrest occurred at the intersection of Tulum and Cobá avenues, where officers intercepted Francisco Román, who was carrying multiple doses of green, dry vegetation resembling marijuana along with live ammunition for a firearm.

Investigators said Román appears to be linked to a criminal group believed to be generating violence and distributing drugs in central Tulum and the area known as the October 2nd invasion zone. This connection forms part of ongoing investigative lines.

In a separate operation, officers arrested Daniel Ángel, also known as “Murpi,” on Aries Sur Street between Saturno Poniente and Melecio.

During a search, police seized from Ángel additional doses of marijuana-like vegetation, granular powder consistent with crystal meth, and pink powder resembling the synthetic drug known as tusi. Officers also found a handgun with a loaded magazine.

Authorities turned both suspects and the seized evidence over to prosecutors, who will compile investigation files and determine the men’s legal status within the constitutional timeframe.
