Cancún, Quintana Roo — Two men from Cancún found guilty of rape have been sentenced to 30 and 50 years in prison for crimes that occurred in 2019 and 2020.
After the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office, through the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Sexual Crimes and Free Development of Personality, presented the corresponding evidence in separate hearings, control judges issued guilty verdicts of 50 and 30 years in prison for two individuals for their involvement in the crime of rape against victims whose identities are protected in the municipality of Benito Juárez.
The first convicted individual is identified as Rogelio Iván Puc Tejero, who received a prison sentence of 50 years for events that occurred in 2019. Taking advantage of his familial closeness with the victim, who was nine years old at the time, he committed the crime of rape on multiple occasions at the residence where they lived, located in the Villas Otoch Paraíso subdivision, First Stage, in Supermanzana 247 of Cancún.
After the presentation of evidence, arguments from both parties, and with no reasonable doubt about the facts, the judge sentenced him to the aforementioned penalty. He must also pay a fine equivalent to 153,000 pesos, as well as compensation for comprehensive damage repair, the amount of which will be determined in the sentencing individualization hearing.
On the other hand, Pablo Celaya de la Vega received a sentence of 30 years in prison after committing rape on May 3, 2020, against a victim who suffers from cognitive and physical disabilities.
The events occurred at the now-convicted individual’s residence, located in the Villa Marino subdivision of Supermanzana 317 in Cancún, a place the victim visited to see a pet belonging to the accused, who had closeness with the young woman as he had been married to her mother.
In addition to the prison sentence, the judge imposed a fine of 192,440 pesos on the convicted individual, as well as an amount to be determined for damage repair.
This confirms that the two individuals accused of raping a minor and a disabled young woman in Cancún have been sentenced to 50 and 30 years in prison, respectively.
