Holbox, Quintana Roo — Two men were injured in a shooting on Holbox Island late Saturday, and police later discovered drugs in their possession, authorities said.
Officers from the Public Security Department, patrolling with federal and state forces, responded to reports of gunfire on Palomino Street between Xpil and Caleta Avenue. At the scene, they found two wounded men, who received immediate medical attention from emergency services.
The victims were identified as José de Jesús “N.” and Alejandro “N.” During a search of their belongings, officers seized 80 small bags containing a green vegetable matter resembling marijuana and 18 bags of white powder resembling cocaine, found in a backpack and a bag they were carrying.
Both men were turned over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Dealing, which will determine their legal status. They continue to receive medical care.
