In the early hours of Thursday morning, two men were fatally shot inside a white Jetta-style car in the city of Tulum. Preliminary reports suggest the shooting took place at the intersection of Centauro and Asteroides Oriente streets, where emergency services were later dispatched.
According to one account of the incident, three individuals on a motorcycle intercepted the car and opened fire on the two men until they were dead. At the scene, police discovered approximately 20 spent bullet casings and a number of tools, leading to speculation that a firearm may have malfunctioned during the attack.
Forensic investigators from the State Attorney's Office were tasked with removing the bodies and transporting them to the Forensic Medical Service. The vehicle involved in the incident was taken to the Public Ministry for further investigation. As of yet, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
