Tulum, Quintana Roo — Two men were detained in Tulum for their alleged involvement in crimes against health, following a joint operation between elements of the Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection and the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo.
The arrest was made when agents intercepted two individuals traveling aboard a black and gray Italika V200 motorcycle, with license plate 38BAG4 from the state of Quintana Roo. During a search, the officers found various illicit substances distributed in dozens of packages.
A Seizure of Multiple Substances
Among the seized evidence were 78 packages of green herb, presumed to be marijuana; 66 packages of a substance known as Molly; 47 packages of hallucinogenic mushrooms; and 75 packages of the drug known as crystal. All the material was packaged and placed at the disposal of the ministerial authorities.
The detainees were identified as Carlos Arturo "N", 31, originally from Venezuela, and Royer "N", 21, originally from the state of Tlaxcala. Both were transferred to the facilities of the State Attorney General's Office, where an investigation file was opened to determine their legal status.
Potential Links to Broader Network
Sources close to the investigation reported that the detainees could be linked to a distribution network for synthetic drugs in the central and coastal zone of Tulum, although their connection to other ongoing cases has not been confirmed at this time.
This seizure adds to a series of recent operations in which local authorities have intensified surveillance in neighborhoods and tourist areas of the municipality, following an increase in citizen reports of narcotics sales. Residents of the area have indicated that the presence of drug dealing has expanded in recent months, especially in areas near bars and lodgings.
The evidence and the motorcycle were transferred to the evidence warehouses of the Attorney General's Office, pending the corresponding expert reports. Meanwhile, the authorities will continue with the investigations to determine the origin of the substances and possible links of the detainees to other criminal operations in the municipality.
