Tulum, Quintana Roo — The Teatro de la Cultura Maya will transform into an urban art battleground on August 13 as Tulum hosts the Gran Concurso de Encuentro Urbano, the largest freestyle, beatbox, and breakdance competition in the southeastern region. Organized by local authorities, the event aims to spotlight emerging talent in these alternative disciplines.
Competition Details and Participation Rules
The event will take place on Alfa Sur Street in Tulum Centro from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Contestants will have a limited time to showcase their skills, with each participant granted four minutes to perform.
According to the competition guidelines, participants must be at least 15 years old. Those under 18 must present a signed parental consent form. For rap performers, lyrics containing profanity, drug references, or violent themes must be modified to exclude such content.
Beatbox and breakdance competitors are required to deliver a brief speech with a message directed at young audiences. All accompanying music and beats must be submitted in WAV format by August 10 at 3:00 PM to the email address bateskush90@gmail.com for review. Contestants will receive their performance schedule 24 hours before the event.
