Tulum, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Tulum, led by Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo, has announced a series of events to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the municipality’s founding. The celebrations will include a solemn session and a night of free concerts for families, taking place on Thursday, May 29.
Solemn Session to Honor Tulum’s Growth
The commemorative events will begin with a solemn session at 10:00 a.m. in the double dome of the Unidad Deportiva. The session was officially approved during the Ninth Extraordinary Session of the City Council and will be attended by state and local authorities, including Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, as well as community leaders and civil society representatives.
“This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved as a community and reaffirm our commitment to sustainable development, inclusion, and Tulum’s identity,” said Mayor Castañón Trejo.
The session will pay tribute to Tulum’s historical, social, and economic progress since its establishment as a municipality in 2008. Key advancements in infrastructure, public services, tourism development, and citizen participation will be highlighted.
Night of Celebration with Free Concerts
Following the official ceremony, the public is invited to an evening of festivities featuring live performances by Nativo Show and Banda La Grandiosa. The free concert will begin at 9:00 p.m. on the esplanade of the Palacio Municipal.
“We want this anniversary to be a source of pride for everyone. We will celebrate with joy, but also with the responsibility of continuing to build the Tulum we all dream of,” added Castañón Trejo.
The event is designed for families and underscores the municipality’s vision of an inclusive and participatory future.
With music, history, and community spirit, Tulum marks another year as a free municipality committed to progress and unity.
