Playa del Carmen, MX. — A taxi from the “Tiburones del Caribe” union in Tulum was involved in a major collision with a private vehicle last night while traveling on Federal Highway 307, near the entrance to Punta Venado.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred when the taxi was allegedly speeding while heading south.
Witnesses indicated that the taxi struck the Aveo car, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and overturn in a green area.
After the crash, the taxi driver fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle at the location, while the driver of the private vehicle managed to exit on their own.
Paramedics who arrived at the site minutes later provided medical attention and, after assessment, determined that the individual did not have serious injuries, so transportation to a hospital was not necessary.
National Guard personnel arrived at the scene and carried out the corresponding procedures, including moving the involved vehicles to the impound lot. (Agencia SIM)
