Quintana Roo's hotel industry is once again raising concerns about the negative effects of taxi driver blockades and recent customs practices at Cancun International Airport. David Ortiz, president of the Tulum Hotel Association, noted that these actions have already led to numerous tourist cancellations and are tarnishing the reputation of the popular destination.
Ortiz criticized the blockades, which have occurred three times in various parts of the state, as extremely inappropriate. These blockades, organized by the Taxi Drivers' Union, not only cause delays but also inflict lasting damage to Quintana Roo's reputation as a top-tier tourist destination.
"This isn't just about a few hours or an afternoon," Ortiz said. "These actions undermine visitors' confidence in choosing or returning to our destination."
