Tulum — The 13 municipal Health Houses will receive a new supply of medicines as part of the “Health for All” program, a strategy with which the Tulum City Council seeks to ensure the constant availability of basic medical supplies in all communities. The delivery is part of the commitment to keep municipal pharmacies stocked, especially in rural areas where access to medical services is limited.
During the delivery event, Municipal President Diego Castañón Trejo stated that public health depends not only on medical care but also on the adequate supply of medicines.
“Health is a fundamental right, and it is not enough to provide consultations; we must ensure that treatments reach every household,” he expressed.
He added that the municipality currently has 13 Health Houses and that in the coming months, construction and rehabilitation works will be completed to expand coverage.
The General Director of Health, Sonia Vargas, highlighted that the instruction has been clear: to ensure that all families in Tulum have access to a complete medical service, without shortages of basic supplies. She emphasized that this reinforcement of medicines has a direct impact on the most remote communities, where municipal pharmacies represent the first point of care.
For his part, the Director of Medical and Pharmaceutical Assistance, Marcelo Torres Arana, reported that as of October, more than 1.1 million pesos have been invested in the purchase of medicines. Likewise, he detailed that 12,057 medical consultations have been provided so far this year, reflecting the constant demand for the service and the need to keep the centers supplied.
With this new supply of medicines, the municipality aims to guarantee the continuous operation of the Health Houses and strengthen care in vulnerable areas, ensuring that the population can access timely and free treatments. The measure represents an advance in the local strategy to improve the coverage and quality of the community health system.
