Tulum, Quintana Roo — NASCAR Mexico will bring its high-speed racing series to Tulum International Airport for the first time next month, combining motorsports with aerial displays in what organizers call an unprecedented event for Mexican sports.
NASCAR Mexico announced the event on Friday alongside military and tourism officials, including representatives from the Mexican Air Force, federal tourism authorities, and local government. The Nations Tulum 100 will feature NASCAR Mexico Series and Challenge Series races on April 25-26, coinciding with the Tulum Airshow 2026 and the Feria Aeroespacial México (FAMEX) exhibition.
The multi-day event begins on April 23 with aerial demonstrations, followed by racing on Saturday and Sunday. Organizers expect more than 30,000 spectators and say security, hotel accommodations, and logistics are prepared for the event’s duration from April 23-25.
This marks the third date on the 2026 NASCAR Mexico calendar. The organization serves as the primary development series for Mexican drivers, with Daniel Suárez—the first graduate to reach NASCAR’s top Cup Series in the United States—as its most notable success story.
Officials emphasized that the temporary racing circuit will be built exclusively within the airport’s private aviation terminal (FBO) area, ensuring commercial and passenger flights continue operating normally without interruption.
Jaime Velázquez Ramos, Director General of Opemsa, described the event as more than just a race. “Nations Tulum 100 is not just a competition; it’s a platform for technical innovation and a showcase for Mexico to the world,” he said. “Building a concrete oval with the strict safety specifications NASCAR requires, using FIA-grade coatings within an active airport perimeter, raises the standard of engineering and logistics we’re capable of in this country.”
Velázquez Ramos added that the private investment-driven project demonstrates how business initiatives can boost high-level tourism. Through their sustainability program “Track Green,” currently undergoing international alignment, organizers aim to ensure economic benefits are managed responsibly regarding the region’s ecosystem.
The event is expected to generate significant economic impact through direct and indirect job creation in hospitality, logistics, services, and gastronomy across the Riviera Maya and broader Mundo Maya region.
Two-day passes for the racing events on April 25-26 will go on sale soon through official NASCAR Mexico and FAMEX channels.
