Three Arrested for Guard’s Murder at Tulum Music Festival

Three suspects arrested for homicide at Tulum music festival

Tulum, Mexico — Three individuals identified as members of a criminal group have been charged with qualified homicide for the death of Edgardo, a private security guard, in events that occurred on January 9 in this municipality.

According to official information, the accused were identified as Emilio “N”, alias “El Humero”, of Venezuelan nationality; Raúl “N”, alias “El Nava del Tren”, 34 years old; and Luis Mario “N”, 28 years old, originally from the state of Guerrero.

Investigations established that the victim was killed by 9-millimeter firearm impacts while inside a property known as “Templo”, where an electronic music event was taking place. At that location, Edgardo was performing private security duties.

The investigations indicate that the attackers mistakenly identified the victim as a member of an opposing criminal group, with whom they maintain a dispute over control of drug retail sales in the area, which is why they allegedly carried out the armed attack.

After their arrest, the three individuals were placed at the disposal of the control judge, who, after analyzing the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, decided to charge them and imposed the precautionary measure of automatic preventive detention, so they will remain incarcerated while complementary investigations continue.

The authorities reiterated that the case remains under investigation with the goal of fully clarifying the facts and determining if there are more people involved in this homicide.
