Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — During the early hours of Wednesday morning, a heavy cargo trailer overturned on the federal highway connecting Cancún with Puerto Morelos, causing severe complications for vehicular traffic in both directions.
The accident was reported shortly after the day began, when the heavy vehicle ended up lying across the asphalt, completely obstructing the flow of cars and causing long lines of stranded drivers on one of the most traveled stretches in northern Quintana Roo.
Emergency teams and National Guard personnel deployed to the site to attend to the scene, control traffic, and evaluate possible damages or injured people, while maneuvers began to remove the wrecked unit.
Due to the size of the trailer and the cargo it was transporting, the removal and cleanup operations took several hours, so authorities recommended that motorists avoid the area and seek alternate routes while passage on the road was normalized.
