Cancun, Mexico — A serious traffic accident on Chac Mool Avenue in Cancun on Saturday afternoon left one man with severe injuries after he was thrown from his vehicle, prompting a large emergency response.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Chac Mool Avenue and Leona Vicario Avenue. Initial reports indicate a woman driving a Subaru SUV with Mexico City license plates allegedly cut off a man traveling on Chac Mool, causing a violent collision between the two vehicles.
The impact sent the man flying from his vehicle. He landed unconscious on the pavement, suffering severe blows to multiple parts of his body. Witnesses at the scene immediately called emergency services due to the severity of the crash.
Municipal police officers arrived minutes later. They cordoned off the area to prevent further accidents, secured the scene, and managed traffic flow, as the incident caused momentary congestion in both directions of the roadway.
An ambulance from Grupo RIM, unit number 4, also arrived. Paramedics provided first aid to the injured man at the scene. After an initial assessment, they decided to transport him immediately to a hospital for specialized medical care and to check for possible internal injuries.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was handed over to the appropriate authorities to determine liability. Officials have not yet released an official update on the injured man’s condition or whether any arrests were made following the incident.
