Cancún, Mexico — A dramatic rollover accident occurred on Thursday afternoon on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard when the driver of a van from the Sindicato Andrés Quintana Roo lost control while transporting tourists to the Cancún International Airport.

The incident took place around 1 p.m. when the vehicle, with unit number 3359, skidded on the wet pavement. According to initial reports, the driver was traveling from the city center toward the airport terminal when he performed a maneuver that, combined with excessive speed, caused the vehicle to swerve in a zigzag pattern before crashing into the median.

As a result of the impact, the unit ended up overturned on its right side, causing alarm among other motorists, who called 911.

Firefighters from the Heroic Fire Department, Civil Protection personnel, and paramedics arrived at the scene and provided attention to the tourists traveling in the taxi. Fortunately, they only sustained minor bruises, while the driver was uninjured.

Subsequently, the driver stated that he lost control due to the wet road surface. However, several witnesses indicated that excessive speed was also a factor in the rollover.

Traffic was affected for nearly an hour in the area until the vehicle was towed to an impound lot.
