Tourist Hit by Taxi in Playa del Carmen, Suffers Minor Injuries

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A tourist was struck by a taxi yesterday afternoon while walking in the Zazil-Há neighborhood of Playa del Carmen after crossing a roadway suddenly, prompting the mobilization of emergency services and authorities to the area.

The incident occurred on CTM Avenue, when a taxi belonging to the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río union, identified with the economic number 2370, was traveling eastbound.

As it approached the intersection with 15th Avenue, the driver failed to notice the pedestrian, who emerged suddenly from the central median, resulting in the impact.

As a consequence of being struck, the visitor was thrown to the side of the road, falling onto the pavement and sustaining visible bruises on their arms and back.

People in nearby businesses, as well as bystanders who witnessed the event, approached to provide immediate assistance and notified emergency services by calling 911.

Minutes later, security personnel and paramedics arrived at the scene, conducting a prehospital assessment and providing medical attention to the injured person.

After examination, it was determined that the injuries did not pose a serious risk to their health, so hospital transport was not required. The affected individual managed to get up on their own after receiving first aid.

The taxi driver remained at the scene and notified their insurance company to cover the costs resulting from the incident.

Meanwhile, authorities carried out the corresponding procedures to establish the circumstances of the accident and assign responsibility according to current regulations.

Traffic in the area remained partially affected for several minutes while rescue operations were conducted and necessary information was gathered, with normal circulation resuming once the procedures were completed.
