Quintana Roo Braces for Torrential Rains, Waterspouts

CANCÚN, QRoo — A low-pressure channel over the western Caribbean Sea, interacting with an atmospheric disturbance, will generate partly cloudy skies throughout the day and intense to torrential rains over the state of Quintana Roo, with accumulated rainfall of 150 to 250 millimeters, primarily over the southern part of the state.

The environment will remain hot during the day and cool to cold in the early morning, especially in rural areas, where winds will persist from the north and northeast with gusts of up to 50 kilometers per hour, elevated wave action, and the possible formation of waterspouts. Fog banks are also forecast for rural and urban zones, as well as along highway routes.

In Cancún, the sky will be partly cloudy with rains and intervals of isolated showers. Winds from the northeast are expected at 35 to 45 kilometers per hour, with stronger gusts. The environment will remain hot with a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, a minimum of 23, and a thermal sensation of 30, according to the Dirección General de Protección Civil of Benito Juárez.

In Isla Mujeres, partly cloudy skies are anticipated with rains and intervals of isolated showers. Winds from the northeast will be 35 to 45 kilometers per hour, with stronger gusts. The environment will stay hot, with a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, a minimum of 20, and a thermal sensation of 30, as reported by the Coordinación Municipal de Protección Civil y Bomberos.

For Playa del Carmen, the sky will be partly cloudy with rains and intervals of isolated showers. Winds from the northeast are forecast at 35 to 45 kilometers per hour with stronger gusts. The climate will remain hot with a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, a minimum of 18, and a thermal sensation of 31, predicts the Secretaría de Protección Civil, Prevención de Riesgos y Bomberos.

In Tulum, the Dirección General de Protección Civil y Bomberos forecasts a partly cloudy sky, rains with intervals of isolated showers, and winds from the northeast at 35 to 45 kilometers per hour, with stronger gusts. The climate will have a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, a minimum of 18, and a thermal sensation of 25.
