Baby dies after father’s brutal attack in Izamal

Izamal, Quintana Roo — A three-month-old baby lost his life after several weeks of hospitalization, following a brutal assault by his own father in Izamal.

The incident occurred on December 12 in the Santo Domingo neighborhood of 2025 in the aforementioned location.

According to gathered information, the infant had been hospitalized since that date due to severe injuries caused when his father, allegedly under the influence of narcotics, took him and slammed him against the wall during an argument with his wife, apparently to obtain drugs. In the same incident, the aggressor’s mother-in-law was also injured.

That day, municipal police officers received a report that an intoxicated individual had assaulted his wife and mother-in-law with a bladed weapon, in addition to brutally attacking his three-month-old son, before fleeing the scene.

At the time, elements of the State Investigation Police, the Secretariat of Public Security, and the Municipal Police deployed an operation in the surroundings of the Santo Domingo neighborhood that allowed the location and detention of the alleged perpetrator in less than half an hour.

Meanwhile, paramedics urgently transported the baby and the injured woman to the IMSS, where the minor’s health status was reported as critical from the moment of admission.

Following the detention, the individual was placed at the disposal of the authorities; however, his wife, who also has addictions, did not file any complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office, so the individual was released.

Almost a month after the events, the minor lost his life due to the aftereffects caused by the blows and injuries suffered during the assault.
