Tulum Drug and Weapons Bust: 3 Arrested

Tulum, Mexico — Three men were arrested in separate security operations conducted by law enforcement agencies in Tulum for their alleged involvement in crimes against public health and violations of the Federal Law of Firearms and Explosives. During the interventions, authorities seized firearms, magazines, live ammunition, and various packages containing suspected narcotics.

The detainees were identified as Rubén “N”, Jafet Nicolás “N”, and Jorge Miguel “N”.

First Operation Nets One Suspect

In an initial action, security personnel detained Rubén “N”, a native of Veracruz. During a search, authorities secured a beige and black handgun, a black magazine with a capacity for 15 cartridges, 12 live cartridges, and 19 transparent plastic wrappers containing green herb with the characteristic properties of marijuana.

The man was turned over to the State Attorney General's Office, along with the seized items, so that his legal status can be determined in accordance with the law.

Coordinated Operation Captures Two More

In a second operation, resulting from coordinated efforts between state and federal law enforcement agencies, Jafet Nicolás “N” and Jorge Miguel “N” were detained. Both are linked to alleged crimes against public health and violations of firearms legislation.

During the intervention, authorities confiscated two Taurus brand 9 mm caliber firearms, 61 packages containing a solid substance suspected to be crystal meth, and 55 plastic packages containing dry herb, similar to marijuana.

The three men and the seized material were transferred to the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo, the institution responsible for conducting the corresponding investigations and defining their legal situation.

Part of Broader Security Efforts

These operations add to various recent actions in neighborhoods and access points to the municipal seat, where weapons and drugs have been seized, and individuals possibly linked to criminal groups have been detained.

Authorities indicated they will maintain permanent surveillance in strategic zones of Tulum to contain illicit activities and strengthen security in the municipality.
