Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — A vehicle collision on Puerto Maya road left three people injured, including a minor, after a car struck a stationary mototaxi near a commercial plaza on Thursday.
The accident occurred when the driver of a white Mazda sedan exited a shopping center parking area without proper caution and hit a three-wheeled mototaxi that was parked and out of service. The mototaxi contained a family who were caught by surprise in the impact.
Witnesses immediately called emergency services via 911, prompting a rapid response from rescue teams. Paramedics arrived minutes later to provide pre-hospital care to the injured.
Medical assessment revealed all three victims sustained bruises and minor contusions. Authorities reported their condition as stable, and no hospital transfers were necessary.
Municipal traffic officers responded to document the incident, conduct necessary investigations, and manage traffic flow, which was briefly disrupted during their work.
The case has been handed over to Municipal Traffic authorities to determine legal responsibility. The incident drew attention from local merchants and pedestrians, who reiterated calls for cautious driving in areas with high vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
