Cancún, Quintana Roo — The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has secured the formal charging of three individuals for their alleged involvement in a femicide case against a victim whose identity remains confidential.
The accused, identified as:
- Freddy “N” (alias “Barbas”),
- Mario Francisco “N” (alias “Paco”), and
- Estefanía Iyujari “N” (alias “Fanny”)
are under investigation for events that occurred on January 1 in Supermanzana 65 of this municipality.
Femicide Stemmed from Argument During Party
According to ministerial investigations, the victim was celebrating the New Year with the accused at a residence located on Calle 9, corner of Avenida Francisco I. Madero. During the gathering, an argument arose between Estefanía Iyujari “N” and the victim; the accused physically assaulted the woman and suffocated her until she lost consciousness.
Subsequently, upon noticing that the victim still showed signs of life, Freddy “N” intervened to suffocate her again, definitively depriving her of life. Finally, Mario Francisco “N” allegedly transported the body in a supermarket cart to a park located in Supermanzana 68, where it was abandoned.
After analyzing the evidence presented by the prosecution, the Control Judge determined the formal charging of the three individuals. Additionally, the judge imposed the precautionary measure of preventive detention for a period of two years, or for the duration of the judicial process, thereby ensuring the development of investigations and justice for the victim.
With these actions, the Attorney General’s Office reaffirms its commitment to rigorously pursuing and sanctioning gender-based crimes in the state of Quintana Roo.
