Taxi Driver’s Death, Bagged Body Found in Cancún

Police officers at the scene in Cancún where a taxi driver died and a bagged body was found

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A major police operation was deployed on Sunday morning between regions 227 and 245 of Cancún after two separate incidents, occurring just meters apart, raised alarms among authorities and local residents.

Around 10:15 a.m., emergency services received a report of a taxi driver from the “Andrés Quintana Roo” Union who was motionless inside unit 0841, prompting the immediate mobilization of ambulances and patrol cars.

Upon arrival, paramedics and police confirmed that the driver, approximately 65 years old, showed no vital signs. He is presumed to have suffered a fatal heart attack, leading municipal agents to cordon off the area while awaiting forensic experts.

While officers conducted initial procedures, residents approached to alert them that, one block away on Chetumal Avenue near Costa Maya, there was a suspicious bundle resembling a human form. Police went to the indicated location and confirmed the presence of a corpse wrapped in bags and covered with a tarp, leading them to secure this second scene as well.

Forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office arrived minutes later to process both sites, gather evidence, and remove the bodies. The bagged corpse was transported to the morgue, where the cause of death will be determined.
