A key stretch of Mexico’s Tren Maya project and the construction of an airport near Tulum on the Yucatan peninsula, received land use rights.
Governor of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquin surveyed the construction areas during his working tour with Mexico’s President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Specialists warned that the Mayan Train terminal in Playa del Carmen will alter the appearance of the city and cause road problems.
The station planned for “La Plancha” was deemed to difficult to deliver on time.
The President of the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres, Roberto Cintrón Gómez, said that they hope that the works of the Mayan Train are not placed where they cause effects on tourism.
FONATUR is currently in negotiations with 250 families that currently live within the right of way. So far, 70 have accepted relocation terms.
