Taco Social Run to Bring Recreation, Live Music and Street Tacos to Cancún’s Avenida Yaxchilán

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A Cancún avenue lined with taquerías will play host to a recreational run and walk next month that pairs exercise with live banda music and street food.

The Taco Social Run is set for Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Avenida Yaxchilán in the municipality of Benito Juárez. Organizers describe the event as open to athletes, hobby runners, families and anyone looking for a different way to spend an afternoon on one of the city’s traditional corridors.

The program includes a run and a walk, with live music and the participation of nearby restaurants and food stands. Organizers say the goal is not competition but conviviality: participants can complete the route, mingle and then sample the food offered by the businesses taking part.

Live Banda Music

Banda La Caribeña, known as “La del estilo,” will provide the soundtrack, performing both along the route and during the gathering afterward. Organizers said the live music is meant to steer the event away from a traditional race format and turn it into an entertainment experience for everyone who turns out.

Participating Taquerías

Food is a centerpiece of the event. After finishing the route, participants can visit the participating establishments, which include El Poblano, Carmen, Socio Naiz, Pescas, Picaña & Grill, Coapeñitos and Autóctona. Their offerings range from tacos and grilled meats to seafood and regional cuisine.

Organizers said the involvement of these businesses is intended to draw more foot traffic to the area and link the sporting activity to the food scene along Avenida Yaxchilán.

How to Register

There is no centralized sign-up. Anyone interested should check the official social media accounts of the participating taquerías, since each business is serving as the registration point and can provide the terms and conditions for joining the run or walk.

A Different Kind of Race

The Taco Social Run is organized by the Benito Juárez municipal government, Distrito Cancún, the “¡A Yaxch!” program and food establishments in the area. Beyond promoting physical activity, organizers said the initiative is meant to create new opportunities for residents to gather and to bring public space back into recreational use, while generating business for shops along the corridor.

The event is scheduled for Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. on Avenida Yaxchilán.
