Cancún. Happy and with contagious excitement, Sylvia Pasquel returns to the city’s stages with a proposal that has her, as she herself confesses, “deeply in love.”

After winning over the Cancún audience with the play No seré feliz pero tengo marido, the first actress returns with La Profesora, a production that will be presented this Friday, November 21 at 19:00 hours at the Teatro de Cancún, accompanied by the renowned actor Alberto Estrella, with whom she has built a stage complicity that will enchant attendees.

The play, written by the Spanish playwright Eduardo Galán, came into Pasquel’s life “because it had to be that way.” For her, the characters are so precise and so honest that they become the perfect vehicle to tell a story that immediately connects with the Mexican public.

In the actress’s words, “The proposal we are bringing is La Profesora with Alberto Estrella and me; it is one of those plays in which the audience’s response is immediate, because there are many teachers in our country. It deals with a teacher and a father who sells fish in the Central de Abasto and has to attend a tutoring session to find out why his daughter is very rebellious. Even though the first scene is very rough, you die laughing; the audience is laughing all the time, they see twenties, romance, learnings… the play has wonderful things.”

The plot sets up an apparently hostile encounter between two characters who, amid laughter, disagreements, and discoveries, reveal themselves as vulnerable and profoundly human.

In an increasingly diverse social context, the production guides the spectator toward a perceptible conflict that, little by little, unravels to reveal a story of understanding and affection.

“It is a play for people to fall in love with these characters,” shared Pasquel, “characters who help each other, confront each other, and in the end make the audience want them to stay together.”

Surprise, tenderness, humor, romance, and dramatic moments intertwine to build a stage experience that, as the actress affirms, has her completely captivated.

“I am in love with this play. In the end, the audience’s applause confirms it: first for our trajectory and then for our performance. Alberto and I have very good chemistry on stage. That is why I invite the people of Cancún to come, to see me in something different. I promise you, I swear it will fascinate you. You will see very good acting work; Eduardo Galán’s play is perfect, and the simple but exact scenography frames this story,” she emphasized.
