Mexican Police Capture Alleged Crime Boss “El Huguito” in Cancun

Victor Hugo Avila Fuentes, also known as "El Huguito", has been arrested in Cancun, Quintana Roo. Fuentes is believed to be the leader of the notorious crime syndicate, La Unión Tepito. His capture was a high priority for Mexico City officials, who had offered a reward of 500,000 pesos for information leading to his arrest.

The arrest was made by the Investigation Police (PDI) following a significant intelligence operation. Fuentes was wanted in Mexico City for a range of serious crimes. These include possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated robbery, street mugging, extortion, kidnapping, and murder by firearm. An active arrest warrant was in place for these charges.

In the coming hours, the Prosecution Office of Mexico City is expected to provide further details on the arrest and the execution of the warrant against Fuentes. They will also provide information on his subsequent detainment.
