Tulum, Mexico — The Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo has confirmed the formal charging of an individual alleged to have participated in a femicide in Tulum, a crime that continues to be a serious concern in the region. The authority detailed that investigations have led to the identification of the accused as Martín Félix "N", who will now face criminal proceedings under preventative detention.
Femicide in Tulum: Events Leading to the Investigation
According to the Attorney General's Office in a statement, the investigation file indicates the crime occurred on October 6. The victim was allegedly abducted by several individuals upon leaving a bar located on Tulum Avenue.
The assailants reportedly forced her into a taxi heading toward the highway connecting to Felipe Carrillo Puerto. At a point during the journey, the attackers exited the vehicle, and the accused is alleged to have fired a gun at the victim, causing her death at the scene.
Preventative Detention and Judicial Follow-Up
During the initial hearing, the Judge of Control determined that sufficient evidence existed to formally charge the accused and decreed justified preventative detention for up to two years or for the duration of the criminal process.
The Attorney General's Office stated it will continue with complementary investigations to ensure justice in this case, reaffirming its commitment to combating gender-based violence and protecting women in Quintana Roo.
