30 Women Rescued in Playa del Carmen Bar Raid

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A joint operation between the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the National Guard resulted in the rescue of 25 to 30 women, who authorities suspect were victims of human trafficking, during a late-night raid at the bar “La Pandemia” in downtown Playa del Carmen.

Midnight Operation

The raid took place around 1:00 a.m. at the establishment located on Avenida 30, between Calle 1ª Sur and Avenida Juárez. Witnesses reported the arrival of a large contingent of law enforcement, led by the FGE and supported by the National Guard, which secured the perimeter.

Authorities closed off the surrounding streets during the operation while conducting inspections inside the bar. The rescued women were transported in at least three vans. The FGE has not yet issued an official statement regarding the raid, which concluded around 2:00 a.m. with the placement of seizure notices on both entrances of the bar.

Allegations of Human Trafficking

While details remain limited, preliminary reports suggest the women may have been exploited under human trafficking conditions. The bar, now under investigation, has been temporarily shut down pending further legal proceedings.

No arrests have been publicly confirmed, and authorities have not disclosed whether the bar’s owners or staff face charges. The case remains under investigation as officials work to verify the identities and conditions of the rescued women.
