Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The 2025 Summer Course Páalal Meyajna Át (Children Creating), organized by the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts of Playa del Carmen, has officially begun at the Cultural Center. The program provides educational and recreational spaces for 218 children and adolescents aged 7 to 17.
A Gateway to the Arts
Ernesto Santiago Martínez Cuéllar, Director General of the Institute, emphasized that the initiative offers participants the opportunity to explore various artistic disciplines under the guidance of specialized instructors. Classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., covering music, theater, modeling, papier-mâché art, bookmaking, and body expression (introductory dance).
Martínez Cuéllar stated, "Many of our students may develop a passion for one of these disciplines and join the regular workshops at the Cultural Center or enroll in the School of Artistic Initiation affiliated with INBAL." He added that the program aligns with the directive of Mayor Estefanía Mercado to expand access to cultural and artistic activities for Playa del Carmen residents.
Expanded Offerings Across the Municipality
A parallel summer course has also launched at the Municipal Music School in Puerto Aventuras, with 33 children aged 6 to 15 participating in painting, Mayan language, singing, and mixed piano and guitar classes.
Additionally, a second summer course will be held from August 11 to 22 at the INBAL-affiliated School of Artistic Initiation in the Bellavista neighborhood.
