Cancún — A student from Conalep Cancún 4 was seriously injured on Wednesday morning after jumping from the second floor of the school, allegedly as a consequence of bullying he was suffering from his classmates.
According to gathered accounts, the young man is the son of a close collaborator of a high-ranking official in the Secretary of Education, which has generated speculation about possible attempts to handle the case with discretion within the institutional sphere.
Witnesses indicated that, following the incident, some teachers attempted to prevent anyone from calling an ambulance to avoid "damaging the image" of the school. However, pressure from students and witnesses present ultimately forced them to request assistance from emergency services by calling 911.
The student was treated by paramedics and transported to a hospital, where he was reported to be out of danger.
The case has reignited concerns about the climate of violence, harassment, and lack of psychological support in upper secondary schools in Cancún. In other educational centers, such as CECyTE Cancún III, parents and students have reported similar situations of bullying, substance use, and even inappropriate conduct within classrooms.
Teaching and administrative staff assert that silence is often maintained out of fear of reprisals or job loss.
These events highlight the urgent need to strengthen measures for the prevention and attention to school violence, as well as to guarantee safe and healthy spaces for the student community of Quintana Roo.
