Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — As part of actions to guarantee orderly urban growth and prevent fraud against citizens, the Isla Mujeres City Council, in coordination with the Government of the State of Quintana Roo through the Secretariat of Territorial, Urban, and Sustainable Development of Quintana Roo (SEDETUS), launched an inspection and closure operation targeting irregular developments located in the Zona Continental.

The Isla Mujeres City Council, through its Directorate of Urban Development, confirmed that during the first day of this inspection, four closures were carried out on properties named Xibalbá, Kukulkán, Isla Continental, and El Ramal. These properties were found to have irregularities related to the sale of lots without proper authorization.

It was reported that this program will continue on a permanent basis, with the objective of inhibiting the illegal sale of land, protecting citizens from potential fraud, and ordering the urban growth of the Zona Continental.

"We are working in close coordination with the State Government to halt these irregular settlements and protect the patrimony of families," stated Marcos Alfonso Velázquez Cabrera, Director of Urban Development for the municipality.

For its part, the State Government reinforced the efforts, insisting that irregular settlements will not be permitted in any of the municipalities of Quintana Roo, and especially not in Isla Mujeres, where urban growth is exponential.

Municipal authorities reminded the public that many of these developments lack permits, licenses, and urban feasibility. They called on citizens not to be deceived by supposed land offers, reminding them that all purchases should be made only in duly authorized zones and with the corresponding legal documentation, which guarantees the legal security of buyers.
