Cancún, QRoo — A Majorcan hotel chain, which operates at least seven resorts in Quintana Roo, primarily in the Riviera Maya, is preparing for a new opening scheduled for November 1. This expansion will add more than 400 rooms to its offerings in the Mexican Caribbean.

The Spanish consortium is consolidating its presence in the state with the upcoming inauguration in the Riviera Cancún, which will join its network of at least seven operational resorts distributed across key destinations such as Riviera Maya, Cozumel, and Cancún. This expansion responds to the growing interest from international tourism in the Mexican Caribbean, especially in the luxury, sustainability, and family experience segments.

Projections based on its properties indicate the chain exceeds 3,500 rooms in the state. It is estimated that the new complex will generate more than 500 direct jobs and contribute to the diversification of the tourist offering in Cancún.

For example, two of its resorts located in Playa Paraíso (Tulum) total more than one thousand rooms combined. To those, another pair in Playa del Carmen is added, plus one in Cozumel, each with capacities ranging between 300 and 400 rooms.

Expansion

The opening in Riviera Cancún will add 440 or more additional rooms, depending on the final design of the project. The new resort is shaping up to be a five-star category property, with a focus on family and sustainable tourism.

The new hotel will be aligned with Iberostar's strategy to eliminate single-use plastics and promote circular economy practices. It is expected to include themed restaurants, a spa, a convention center, and direct beach access.

The new resort could become an attraction for both leisure tourism and the MICE segment (an acronym in English for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).

The expansion also reflects a regional trend: the strengthening of Spanish brands in the Mexican Caribbean. According to data from the Riviera Maya Hotel Association (AHRM), more than 30 percent of the hotel supply is operated by Spanish groups.
