Cancun, Mexico — Sixteen baseball academies from across Quintana Roo inaugurated the sixth season of the Riviera Maya Youth Baseball League on Saturday, marking the start of a new tournament for young athletes.
The opening ceremony took place at the Riviera Maya Sports Complex, where teams from various municipalities paraded by age category. Officials in attendance included Abel Fernández, president of the Quintana Roo Baseball Association; Servio Borges, baseball coordinator for the Quintana Roo State Sports Commission (CODEQ); and Jorge Manzanero, president of the Saturday softball league.
In the 4-5 year-old category, participating teams include Náhun Sport, Navegantes, Tortugas, and Taxistas Cancún.
For ages 7-8, teams include Padres de Playa, Náhun Sport, Tortugas, Navegantes, and Taxistas Cancún.
The 9-10 year-old division features Taxistas de Cozumel, Delfines Taxistas Cancún, Nahum Sport, and Tortugas de Puerto Morelos.
