Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A coordinated security operation in Playa del Carmen on Wednesday afternoon ended with six people detained at a home near the third park of the Villas del Sol subdivision.

The operation on Calle Jilguero involved personnel from the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the State Prosecutor’s Office and municipal police, who moved on a duplex apartment identified during an investigation into suspected drug distribution.

Officers detained three men and three women. They also seized multiple doses of suspected illicit substances and three motorcycles that investigators believe were tied to the activities under investigation.

Once the operation concluded, authorities secured the property and placed official seals at several points around the site. The items seized were added to the case file.

The six detainees were taken into custody and turned over to the Public Ministry, which will determine their legal status as the investigation advances.
