Police operation in Tulum resulting in six arrests for drug trafficking

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Six people were arrested in two separate operations in Tulum for alleged drug trafficking offenses, according to authorities.

The arrests of five men and one woman were made by the Investigation Police of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), in coordination with the National Defense Secretariat and Municipal Police, for their alleged involvement in crimes against public health through drug trafficking.

“The six individuals were apprehended in flagrante delicto during investigative patrols and crime prevention activities,” stated the ministerial authority through the official operation report.

In the first intervention, agents detained Raúl “N”, Luis Mario “N”, Emilio Mijail “N”, Margarito “N”, and Sergio Samir “N” on Sagitario Oriente Street, between Cobá Avenue and Escorpión Norte Street. During the search, authorities seized green and dry vegetable matter with characteristics similar to marijuana, white powder resembling cocaine, two firearms, three loaded magazines, and a SEAN brand vehicle.

In a second action, Luisa Fernanda “N” was arrested on Rubí 12 Street, corner with Rubí 6, in the Aldea Tulum subdivision, where she was allegedly carrying bags containing green and dry vegetable matter with characteristics similar to marijuana.

The six detained individuals, along with the seized evidence, were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will compile the corresponding investigation files.

According to legal procedure, a Control Judge will determine the legal status of the detained individuals within the constitutional timeframe.
