MÉRIDA, MX. — Colombian singer Shakira has officially announced that Mérida will be one of the cities included in the final round of concerts in Mexico for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, with a performance scheduled for February 24, 2026, at the Carlos Iturralde Rivero Stadium.

Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada confirmed the news through her social media, detailing that ticket presales will begin on December 1 via the eticket.mx platform. Expectations are that the stadium will be completely full, as the arrival of the performer of “Ojos Así,” “Hips Don’t Lie,” and “TQG” has sparked enthusiasm among thousands of Yucatecan fans.

This will be the second time Shakira performs in Mérida. The first occurred in July 2011, when she offered a massive concert on the former grounds of “La Plancha,” an event still remembered for its historic turnout.

Her return comes at a key moment in her career, following the global success of the album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran and a tour that has sold out tickets in multiple countries. Mérida thus joins a limited selection of Mexican cities chosen to close this stage of the tour.

Cultural and Economic Impact for the City

According to the mayor, Shakira’s arrival will represent a boost for Mérida in cultural and tourism terms, with a notable increase expected in hotel occupancy, restaurant consumption, mobility, and commercial activities during that weekend.

“Attracting events of this magnitude helps position Mérida as a city capable of hosting international spectacles,” she stated, emphasizing that the performance also contributes to stimulating the local economy.

The concert will take place at the Carlos Iturralde Rivero Stadium, one of Yucatán’s most emblematic sports venues, which has hosted matches and mass events but is now preparing for one of the most anticipated musical nights of the coming year.

The production is expected to include screens, lighting, and stage elements characteristic of the artist’s international tours, known for offering high-level shows, vibrant choreographies, and a repertoire that combines her new songs with the hits that have defined different generations.

On social media, followers from Mérida, municipalities within the state, and other cities in the southeast have begun organizing to travel to the concert. Users are sharing memories of her 2011 performance and anticipating another memorable night.

With this date, Mérida once again places itself on the map of major international spectacles and joins the final leg of Shakira’s tour in Mexico.
