Merida, Yucatan — Colombian superstar Shakira has officially confirmed that Mérida will host one of the final Mexico dates of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, with a concert scheduled for February 24, 2026, at the Carlos Iturralde Rivero Stadium.

The announcement was confirmed by Mérida Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada, who shared the news across her social media channels. Presale tickets will open on December 1, 2025, through eticket.mx, the platform managing all Mexico dates for the tour.

This marks Shakira’s second performance in Mérida, following her massive 2011 concert at La Plancha, which drew tens of thousands of fans and remains one of the most memorable live music events in the city’s history.

A Major Stop on a Global Tour

Shakira’s tour arrives in Mérida during a high point in her career. Her 2024 album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran topped international charts and fueled a global tour that has sold out arenas across the U.S., Latin America, and Europe. The Mexico dates are expected to be among the most in-demand, with Mérida joining a small number of cities selected for the last leg.

Industry analysts expect the Mérida show to sell out quickly, given the artist’s strong fan base across the Yucatán Peninsula and neighboring states.

Cultural and Economic Impact

Local authorities project a significant boost to Mérida’s economy during the concert weekend. The influx of visitors is expected to increase hotel occupancy, restaurant traffic, tourist excursions, and retail sales, with fans already organizing group trips from Campeche, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Chiapas.

“Events of this magnitude position Mérida as a city ready to host international artistic productions,” Mayor Patrón said, noting that the concert supports the city’s broader cultural and tourism strategies.

A Stadium Preparing for a Global Show

The Carlos Iturralde Rivero Stadium, home to the Yucatán Venados, will undergo technical adjustments to accommodate the touring production. Shakira’s shows are known for high-definition screens, complex lighting rigs, live choreography, and setlists blending new material with the hits that made her a global icon, including Hips Don’t Lie, Ojos Así, La Tortura, and TQG.

Fans Already Mobilizing

On social media, enthusiasm among Yucatecan fans is surging. Many are sharing memories of her 2011 concert and expressing excitement about her return. Local travel agencies have begun promoting transportation packages, anticipating strong regional demand.

With this upcoming concert, Mérida solidifies its position as a destination for major international performances — and welcomes one of the most anticipated musical events of 2026.
