7 Arrested in Cancún Agent’s Bullring Execution

Cancún, Mexico — Seven alleged participants in the homicide of a ministerial agent that occurred outside the Plaza de Toros in Cancún have been arrested following a rapid operation by the State Attorney General's Office.

Authorities reported that the alleged perpetrators were located and detained in less than 24 hours through field investigation work and advanced technology.

Investigation Advances Following Crime Against Ministerial Agent

Preliminary investigations indicate that the detainees participated in the execution of an Investigation Police officer assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Combating Drug Retailing, identified as Altamirano Olarte.

The attack against the agent occurred in the early hours of November 16 on Bonampak Avenue, near Supermanzana 4A, outside the Plaza de Toros de Cancún, close to the bar zone.

The seven detainees were identified as:

  • César Alexis "N"
  • Gregorio Nicolás "N"
  • Óscar Omar "N"
  • Juan José "N"
  • Juan Ricardo "N"
  • José Daniel "N"
  • A minor

Intercepted on Highway Stretch

At the time of their arrest on the Playa del Carmen–Tulum highway, two long weapons and three short weapons were seized from them. Authorities also confiscated magazines, useful cartridges, and a substance with characteristics similar to marijuana.

Furthermore, forensic experts located 17 shell casings at the scene of the attack, and ballistics tests confirmed that three weapons match those used in the homicide.

Authorities also seized three taxis—a Kia Río, a Nissan Versa-Driver, and a Nissan Tiida—allegedly used by the criminal group dedicated to drug sales.
