Drug Busts in Quintana Roo: 7 Arrested

Quintana Roo, Mexico — A series of raids conducted in the municipalities of Cancún and Cozumel have resulted in the seizure of various narcotics, the recovery of a vehicle, and the detention of seven individuals allegedly linked to drug dealing offenses. The operations, carried out by Quintana Roo authorities, focused on different neighborhoods in both locations.

Coordinated Raids Yield Multiple Seizures

The authorities executed four search warrants across the two tourist destinations. During these operations, law enforcement located substances including marijuana, cocaine, crack, and fragments of crystal meth, in addition to equipment for the handling and sale of narcotics, such as digital scales.

In Cozumel, three separate raids were conducted in different neighborhoods. In the Maravilla neighborhood, agents secured marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth, and a gray Nissan Versa automobile. In the San Gervasio neighborhood, authorities located cocaine, crack, marijuana, and elements for weighing drugs. In a third area, similar substances and green plant matter, presumably marijuana, were confiscated. Several individuals were detained during these Cozumel operations and turned over to the authorities, who will determine their legal status following pertinent investigations.

In Cancún, a raid was carried out at a property in the Paseos del Mar subdivision, where authorities detected marijuana, leading to the detention of one suspect related to criminal activities.

All secured items, along with the detained individuals, have been placed under the custody of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which continues with investigations to clarify potential links with criminal organizations. These actions reinforce efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, one of the areas most affected by insecurity derived from the consumption and illicit sale of drugs.
