CHETUMAL — The Secretary of Finance and Planning (Sefiplan) has invited the public to participate in a flag-raising ceremony marking the 51st anniversary of Quintana Roo's creation as a free and sovereign state. The civic act is scheduled for this Wednesday, October 8, at 8:40 in the morning at the Plaza Cívica de la Bandera, located in front of the Government Palace in the state capital.

Through its social media channels, Sefiplan called on the population to join this celebration "to pay homage to our beloved Quintana Roo" and to commemorate its history, identity, and transformation.

"Let us celebrate with pride our identity, history, and transformation. Your presence is very valuable to pay homage to our beloved Quintana Roo," the department expressed in its message.

The event is part of the official activities commemorating more than half a century since October 8, 1974, when Quintana Roo was recognized as the 30th state of the Mexican federation.
