Tulum, Quintana Roo — A new armed attack occurred on Friday afternoon at Cenote Vésica in Tulum, leaving three people injured, one of them seriously, according to preliminary information.
The incident took place around 2:00 p.m. when gunshots were heard inside the cenote, causing panic among visitors and workers as the site was open to the public and operating normally.
According to initial reports, two of the injured were urgently transported to a hospital in Playa del Carmen due to the severity of their injuries, while a third man received medical attention at the scene from emergency services.
Among the victims, preliminary identification includes D.J.P.N., 30 years old, with a gunshot wound to the back, and J.E.M.N., a 37-year-old Argentine citizen, who was reported in serious condition with multiple wounds to the neck, face, arms, and chest. The identity of the third injured person has not been officially confirmed.
So far, no arrests have been reported, and authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the motive for the attack or the lines of investigation. This incident occurs hours after another violent episode recorded during the early morning of the same Friday at an electronic music event in the municipality.
