System Outage Halts Vehicle Registrations in Quintana Roo

Long lines at a vehicle registration office in Quintana Roo due to SATQ system failure

Quintana Roo, MX. – A system failure at the Quintana Roo Tax Administration Service (SATQ) left users across Quintana Roo unable to complete vehicle-related procedures, as it prevented payment processing at cashiers and halted processes linked to vehicle registration and licensing for 2026.

According to reports gathered in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, the platform remained inactive for over an hour and a half, with intermittent periods of operation that did not allow for normal service to resume. Since the system is linked to payment processing, no procedures could be finalized during the outage.

Long lines formed at service modules where people sought to complete license plate changes, vehicle registry updates, or related payments.

In Playa del Carmen, users visited both the downtown module (Primera Sur with 15) and the one in the Ejidal neighborhood, where staff explained that without the system, no progress could be made.

Authorities and module personnel reiterated that all vehicle owners must have the State Taxpayer Registry (REC), which is processed online through the SATQ platform. Although the system indicates the process is digital, users are required to bring a printed receipt to the module to continue the procedure, which has caused confusion among users.

For elderly individuals, the procedure has proven especially complicated. In response, support modules were set up within licensing offices to assist with registration; however, the system failure prevented completions even with this support.

Staff at modules recommended that citizens verify the system status before visiting and bring printed copies of required documents to avoid setbacks once the platform is restored. (Agencia SIM)
